Upbeat Music Academy Kelowna Lesson Policies


Reserved Lesson Time

  • Your weekly lesson time is reserved just for you. Tuition secures your instructor’s scheduled teaching time each week.
  • If you need to miss a lesson, please notify your instructor by 10:00 AM on the day of the lesson, or earlier if possible.
  • Missed lessons cannot always be rescheduled, but we will always do our best when advance notice is provided. When notice is received by 10:00 AM, we will prioritize offering a make-up lesson if availability allows.
  • Because our teaching schedule is often full, make-up lessons cannot be guaranteed and are offered as a courtesy when openings arise. There are no refunds for missed lessons.

Students may also:

  • Send another family member in their place for the scheduled lesson

  • Arrange a Zoom lesson if they are unable to attend in person.

Make-Up Lessons

Make-up lessons are offered based on instructor availability and require adequate notice of absence.

  • Instructors are not obligated to provide make-up lessons or lesson credits but may do so at their discretion.

  • A maximum of three (3) make-up lessons per school year may be provided.

  • A make-up lesson cannot be offered unless the instructor is notified by 10:00 AM on the day of the scheduled lesson.

  • No-shows or missed make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled.



Instructor Absence

  • If an instructor must cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be provided.
  • If any instructor-cancelled lessons have not been fulfilled by the end of June, a refund will be issued.
  • If a student misses a scheduled make-up lesson, it will be considered fulfilled.


Lesson Termination

  • If you wish to withdraw from lessons, two (2) weeks’ notice is required.
  • Lessons will be terminated after two (2) weeks of unpaid tuition.
  • If a student is absent for two consecutive weeks without payment or notice, lessons will be considered forfeited, and the time slot may be offered to another student.


Student & Family Responsibilities

  • Clients are responsible for remembering lesson times and notifying the instructor if the student cannot attend.

  • Tuition payments must remain up to date to maintain lesson enrollment.

Health & Safety

  • Shared surfaces are disinfected between lessons.

  • If you are sick, please stay home. Online lessons are available as an alternative.

  • Hand sanitizing is encouraged upon entering the studio. Please use hand sanitizer provided or wash your hand in our washroom.

Upbeat Music Academy‘s Lesson Policies

  •  For student absences:
    • Please notify the instructor by call, text or email (Lora/Lucas 250-317-3685, Noel 250-681-4067) by 10 am the morning of the lesson or sooner if possible.
    • There are no refunds but a make-up lesson can be arranged if notification is given by 10 am the morning of the scheduled lesson.
    • Lessons can be filled by another family member.
    • If the student is able, Zoom lessons can be an alternative to missing a lesson.
  • Makeup Lessons:
    • Make-up lessons are offered based on instructor availability only.
    • Make-up lessons are offered based on adequate notification for a cancelled lesson.
    • The instructor is not obligated to supply a make-up lesson or lesson credits but may do so at their discretion, to a maximum of 3 make-up lessons per school year.
    • A make-up lesson can not be given unless the instructor is notified by 10 a.m. the day of the Lesson.
    • Unfortunately, there can be no make-up lessons for No notification of a missed lesson or a missed make-up lesson.
    • Missed make-up lessons cannot be rescheduled.
  • Instructor Absence:                 
    • If the instructor needs to cancel a lesson, a make-up lesson will be provided.  If by the end of June, any make-up lessons have not been fulfilled, a refund will be issued.
    • If any scheduled make-up lessons are missed by the student, the lessons will be considered fulfilled.
  • Lesson Termination:    
    • If you wish to withdraw from lessons two weeks’ notice is required.
    • Lessons will be terminated after two weeks of delinquent payment.
    • Student absence for two consecutive weeks with no payment and no notification of absence, will result in lesson termination.
  • It is the client’s responsibility: to remember when your music lesson occurs and to notify us if the student can’t make it.
