Lora has been teaching music for more than 25 years and works with students from complete beginners through advanced musicians. She teaches saxophone at Upbeat Music Academy’s Glenmore studio, helping students build strong fundamentals while developing their own musical interests and goals.
Lessons can include learning to read music, developing tone and technique, preparing for school band, studying music theory, jazz improvisation, performance preparation, and working toward music examinations.

Meet Your Saxophone Teacher, Lora Wentworth
Lora Wentworth has been teaching music for more than 25 years and brings extensive experience in music performance, composition, education, and ensemble direction to her teaching.
She holds a Diploma in Music Performance and Composition from Selkirk College, a Licentiate in Music Education through RSL Awards, and Grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music.
Beyond her 25+ years of teaching experience, Lora has performed in concert bands, directed ensembles of up to 35 musicians, taught music theory at the college level, and helped hundreds of students build confidence through music. Her saxophone lessons combine strong technical foundations with encouraging, personalized instruction that helps students enjoy the learning process from the very first lesson.
Lora works with students from complete beginners through advanced musicians and takes the time to understand each student’s interests, experience, and goals. Her approach combines solid musical foundations with practical, enjoyable music-making.

Beginners learn the fundamentals of saxophone playing, including proper technique, tone production, reading music, rhythm, and playing songs they enjoy. No previous musical experience is required.
Intermediate and advanced students can work on improving technique, tone, scales, sight reading, musical expression, improvisation, and more advanced repertoire.
Children and teens can receive additional support with school band, concert music, auditions, and developing the skills and confidence they need to play with other musicians.
