Play the music you love! Learn acoustic or electric guitar with Noel Wentworth at Upbeat Music Academy's Glenmore studio in Kelowna, located at 455 Glen Pine Ct, Kelowna, BC V1V 1R3. Noel has more than 25 years of teaching experience and works with beginners through advanced players, age 9 and up.
Lessons are private and tailored to each student's goals, whether that's learning favourite songs, building solid technique, improving musicianship, or preparing for Rockschool exams.
Lessons are $34 per half hour.
Meet Your Guitar Teacher, Noel Wentworth
Hi, I'm Noel! I've been teaching guitar, bass and ukulele for over 25 years and playing music for more than 40. Over the years, I've worked with hundreds of students, from kids and teens to adults and retirees.
I like to keep lessons relaxed and enjoyable while helping students make real progress. Some want to learn their favourite songs, while others want to work on technique, understand music better, write songs, or get comfortable playing with other musicians. We work toward whatever interests them most.
I have a Diploma in Music Performance from Selkirk College and a Licentiate in Music Education through RSL Awards. I've also served as an RSL Awards provincial representative and sat on the Selkirk College Student Advisory Panel.
Outside of teaching, I've been a working musician and recording artist. I've released two albums, Motion (2002) and Change(2004), and bring plenty of real-world playing, recording, and songwriting experience into my lessons.
For me, it's all about helping students enjoy playing, learn songs they love, and develop skills they can keep building on for years to come.

Performance Opportunities
Students who enjoy performing can take part in relaxed student showcases held twice a year. These performances give students a chance to share what they've been working on, build confidence, and experience playing for an audience in a supportive environment.
Online Guitar Lessons
Online guitar lessons are also available when attending the studio isn't practical or when the student is sick. Students can continue learning from home while receiving personalized instruction and feedback from Noel.
Acoustic Guitar Lessons in Kelowna
Acoustic guitar is a great way to build a strong foundation in chords, rhythm, picking, and coordination.
Lessons combine songs you enjoy with the skills needed to become a confident player. Beginners can start with basic chords and strumming, while more experienced players can work on fingerstyle, picking, theory, improvisation, and more advanced techniques.
Lessons are available for beginners through advanced players, age 9 and up.
Electric Guitar Lessons in Kelowna
Electric guitar opens the door to rock, blues, metal, punk, alternative, and many other styles.

Guitar Exam Preparation and Rockschool
Students who enjoy working toward a specific goal can prepare for RSL Awards (Rockschool) graded exams with Noel.
Noel helps students prepare for all grades of Rockschool Guitar including repertoire (songs), technical skills, sight-reading, musicianship, and performance preparation.
Rockschool exams are optional. They provide a structured way to work toward a recognized musical achievement, and Grades 4–6 can also contribute toward BC Ministry of Education external high school credit.

New to Guitar?
Guitar is generally recommended for students age 9 and up. For younger children, ukulele lessons can be a great starting point from age 7, while piano lessons are available from age 5.
